AUSTIN, TX – January 23, 2007 –Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wireless and wired networking, storage and memory solutions announced today it has joined Intel’s “Connect with Centrino” program - a compatibility and real-world performance program, which ensures Centrino customers get the ultimate wireless experience. Joining the program guarantees Buffalo’s new AirStation Wireless–N Nfiniti Dual Band Router & AP (WZR-AG300NH) is fully interoperable with any dual-band Centrino Mobile Technology notebook with Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N. The dual band capabilities allow users to take advantage of the 5GHz band (802.11a), which is ideal for gaming and streaming multimedia content such as videos and music, while the 2.4GHz band (802.11b/g) is perfectly suited for common Internet activities such as email and web browsing.
The AirStation Wireless – N Nfiniti Dual Band Router & AP is the first wireless router that concurrently supports all Wi-Fi® standards (802.11a/b/g) and the IEEE 802.11n draft specification. It is also the only two-in-one wireless device on the market today with an external switch, which easily allows the product to be used as either a router or Access Point. It is also the first wireless router to receive Windows VistaTM Premium Certification.
“As wireless networking becomes ubiquitous, it is essential for wireless vendors to enhance performance and strive for interoperability and compatibility amongst necessary devices,” said Morikazu Sano, senior vice president of global sales and marketing at Buffalo Technology. “Because Intel’s ‘Connect with Centrino’ program includes real-world testing scenarios, it assures cross-vendor compatibility. We are pleased to continue to work with Intel to enhance the overall wireless experience with solutions that provide improved performance, compatibility and range.”
Buffalo participated in the “Connect with Centrino” program to ensure users can connect with confidence when they see the “Connect with Centrino” identifier on their products. The “Connect with Centrino” identifier appears on AP products that have successfully completed Intel’s rigorous testing program, which ensures users will experience enhanced performance, and seamless connectivity. Testing for Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N compatibility includes basic connectivity and advanced usage scenarios that a typical user would experience such as transferring large files, streaming multimedia content, connecting at range or through walls and floors, etc.
“Even though the Draft 802.11n standard has yet not been ratified by the IEEE, products featuring the draft specification are quickly infiltrating the market. This calls for a solution that ensures compatibility and high performance amongst all Draft 802.11n wireless APs,” said Dave Hofer, director of wireless networking, Intel’s mobile product group. “By working with leading AP manufacturers like Buffalo, we are ensuring cross vendor compatibility, ease-of-use and enhanced wireless performance.”
With the ability to reach data rates near 300Mbps* and a four port 10/100/1000 gigabit Ethernet switch, Buffalo’s new router offers improved stability for wireless streaming of applications that demand greater bandwidth such as VoIP or high definition video. Because of the product’s dual band support, the new Nfiniti router reduces interference with other wireless devices and offers enhanced wireless range. The router also features Buffalo’s technologically advanced AOSS™ (One-Touch Secure System) , providing the simplest and most secure one-touch wireless setup system available on the market today. It also includes Wi-Fi Protected Set-up (WPS). For additional security, the device incorporates advanced security features such as WPA2, WPA-PSK with TKIP and AES support, 128/64-bit WEP, Dynamic Packet Filtering and NAT, Intrusion Detector, as well as SPI Firewall.
